8 Bite-Size Snacks That Fight The Fat

Having trouble fighting fat? These 8 snacks have proven lipid-melting powers that help you stay slim – and they can be eaten on the go!

ALMONDS
Dieters who ate 3 ounces of these nuts every day reduced their weight and body-mass index by a solid 18 percent compared with an 11 percent drop in the no-nut group, a study in the International Journal of Obesity found. Almonds are high in alpha-linolenic acid, which can speed the metabolism of fats. Stick to 12 per serving.

BERRIES
Vitamin C–loaded fruit such as strawberries and raspberries can help you sizzle up to 30 percent more fat during exercise, suggests research from Arizona State University at Mesa. Blend a vinaigrette of 1 cup berries and 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar.

SOY BEANS
These green gems are rich in choline, a compound that blocks fat absorption and breaks down fatty deposits. Add 1/2 cup edamame to a salad.

ORANGES
Oranges contain fat-torching compounds called flavones. Women who ate the most flavones had a significantly lower increase in body fat over a 14-year period, a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition finds. Snack on slices or drink freshly squeezed OJ (with pulp!) for the biggest payback

Freedom Riders 50th Anniversary

Freedom Riders were civil rights activists that rode interstate buses into the segregated southern United States to test the U.S. Supreme Court decision Boynton v. Virginia (of 1960).  The first Freedom Ride left Washington, D.C., on May 4, 1961, and was scheduled to arrive in New Orleans on May 17.

Southern states continued to practice segregation despite the decision.  The Freedom Riders set out to challenge this practice by riding various forms of public transportation in the South to challenge local laws or customs that enforced segregation. The Freedom Rides, and the violent reactions they provoked, bolstered the credibility of the American Civil Rights Movement and called national attention to the violent disregard for the law that was used to enforce segregation in the southern United States. Riders were arrested for trespassing, unlawful assembly, and violating state and local Jim Crow laws, along with other alleged offenses, and were even imprisoned.

As a human being, and a  bi-racial woman THANK YOU!!!!
I know there is still racism that exists today but thank you for making it taboo.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

With Mothers Day only a cpl of days away I wanted to do a few gift ideas.....
I personally LOVE the arts and crafts my kiddies come home with from school. I keep them all and cherish them dearly. However its also nice to receive other things as well. I think the simple pampering items are great. That's what mommies really need and want just a day to be pampered and relax.
Flowers are great but when your kiddies make the arrangement themselves... so sweet!!!

Spa treatments with the time included... you cant give a gift cert. without giving the time to use it.
Or
Self spa treatments (Do it yourself)

Love Edible Arrangements
(Even better if you have the kids make it for you let them get in the kitchen, Cut fruit up and dip it)

An amazing set of candles.

A Sweet Song That Always Makes Me Cry.....

So I lost both my Grandmother and my dad within six months of each other and...... I was a wreck so in I think 2008 Mariah put this song out and I could have died. It was sooooo perfect for what I was going through at the time. One of my oldest friends from Jr. High School lost her Grandma yesterday. Its truly hard for anyone to help heal the pain of losing a loved one.... So I hope this song helps a little!!!! Cry it out Nellie.......
Love ya always!!!!

New Products.....

So I bought a few new products that I have heard great things about and I wanted to see how they work for me.....
Things that work great for some people are not that amazing to me and vise versa.
I love the IDEA of the product Mixed Chicks.... I mean its freaking brilliant to capitalize on biracial hair. I am side ways a little jealous because I didn't think of it..... lol BUT it does nothing special for MY hair. So I hope you get what I'm talking about.
Here we go:

#1. Avenno Skin Brighten Daily Scrub *****
gets 5 stars.... I love, love, love this stuff. I have eczema ever (after I had my first child) and my skin doesn't play. Everything irritates it or I get a burning sensation. Not with this stuff. I have to say I am hooked and it totally brightens your skin up..... It really gives you a great GLOW....

#2. Loreal Go 360 Clean. for sensitive skin.
IDK Yet..... The verdict is still out on this one. Although I can say my skin is super soft after the first try.
I think I'm gonna like it, but not a must have.... Meaning if I'm about to run out I will not have a panic attack until I buy some more.

#3. Neutrogena Split End Mender.****
I bleached my hair a couple of months ago and recked it.... I am trying to nurse it back to health. Meet one of my nurses. LOL This product is truly a blessing. I use it every other day and just saturate my have dry or wet.... It is slowly helping the healing process

#4. Garnier Fructis. 3 min undo dryness treatment. ***
I got this a about 3 months ago and like it but, It didn't seem to do anything amazing. I finished the first bottle and will buy some more just to keep, My daughter loves it... it works well on her hair so I guess its good for something.

Song of the day......
